Note From the Vice President

Happy Physical Therapy Month, everyone!

This month, there are a variety of ways you can engage in the PT profession, including upcoming APTA live events, student socials, and service opportunities. You can also now vote for the next APTA Student Assembly Board of Directors! Serving as vice president this past year has been an incredible opportunity. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to collaborate with my fellow board members and all the amazing core ambassadors while representing the 30,000+ student members of the APTA. I have grown so much as a leader and future physical therapist, and it has been an honor to work alongside and represent all of you in this role. While I am sad to be writing my final note, I am so excited to see all of the outstanding candidates slated for next year’s student board. You can read candidate statements, watch virtual interviews, and vote on apta.org. Be sure to make your voice heard before voting closes on Nov. 6.

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I wish you all the best in your leadership journeys and I look forward to connecting again at future conferences and events.

Note From the Vice President

Hi, everyone.

I am excited to share that elections for the next APTA Student Assembly Board of Directors are set to open next week! Voting will open online Thursday, Oct. 7. This is such an exciting time, as there are so many amazing student leaders on this year’s slate. Be sure to keep an eye out for videos and other promotional materials to help you get to know all the awesome candidates. Don’t forget to make your voice heard in selecting next year’s SABoD!

I also am thrilled to announce another core ambassador transition period. Next month, new core ambassadors begin a year-long term helping students in their states become better engaged with APTA. I am very encouraged about the excitement this new cohort of student leaders has in engaging their peers in APTA involvement!

Thank you to all the outgoing core ambassadors. As I look toward having only one month left in my current role as vice president, I know it is bittersweet to transition out of such a rewarding leadership position. Thank you for all the hard work you have put in to serve the Student Assembly over the past year. This is just the beginning of your leadership journey and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for each of you!

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

APTA Core Ambassador Spotlight: Ethan Mitchell

Texas Physical Therapy Association Core Ambassador Ethan Mitchell is a second-year DPT student at Angelo State University. This past year Ethan has worked with the Texas Student Physical Therapy Association to hold a webinar with TPTA President Michael Alan Geelhoed, PT, DPT, to discuss how to get involved within APTA. In addition, he, along with his TSPTA team, held a National Advocacy Dinner to ignite student interest in population health. Ethan has enjoyed highlighting various programs and students throughout Texas through a social media initiative on the @TexasSPTA Instagram. Developing relationships with other students passionate about physical therapy is the most valuable aspect of being the Core Ambassador!

Note From the Vice President

Hi, everyone.

I cannot believe how quickly the summer has flown by! Although I am sad to see the summer start to come to a close, I am excited for the new school year that lies ahead. Whether starting a new semester or embarking on your next clinical rotation, this next season of transition brings you one step closer to becoming a PT or PTA!

I am also excited for all the events and opportunities that are coming soon. I cannot wait to connect in person with students at the APTA Centennial Celebration in early September! Whether you are volunteering as an usher at the APTA House of Delegates or participating in APTA's Advocacy Day on the Hill, it is anticipated to be a great event for celebrating the PT profession. If you cannot attend in person, many of the events, including the House of Delegates and the Future of Physical Therapy Summit, will also be livestreamed. More information about these events can be found on APTA's Centennial website.

The slate of candidates for the next APTA Student Assembly Board of Directors will also be announced in a few weeks. This will be an excellent opportunity to get to know the candidates running to represent all 30,000 student members of APTA. Be sure to keep an eye out for the official announcement, learn about all of the amazing candidates, and cast your vote for the next SABoD.

Finally, September will bring another season of transition for APTA Core Ambassadors. Applications for the fall cycle are now closed and new CAs will be appointed soon. Thank you to everyone who is nearing the end of their term as a Core Ambassador. Please let me know if you need any assistance in the coming months in helping to onboard your state’s next Core Ambassador into their new role.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions!
