Core Ambassador Spotlight

Since becoming a Core Ambassador in November 2020, Weslee Thompson, SPT, has been hard at work raising awareness about the need for a pro bono physical therapy clinic in the Vermont community. He credits his personal passions and the APTA Core Values for inspiring him to advocate for pro bono PT services as a student. Weslee shared that the contacts he has made through being an APTA Core Ambassador have helped him take this idea that he did not think he would be able to pursue as a student and begin to make it a reality in his state. Weslee has been collaborating with Vermont, a chapter of APTA, and his PT program to start making progress on bringing pro bono PT to Vermont. Welsee also coordinated Vermont’s National Advocacy Dinner which highlighted elements of this current project. Thank you Weslee for all you do for the APTA as the Vermont Core Ambassador!

Note From the Vice President

Hi, everyone,

April is Financial Literacy Month and APTA is highlighting all of the tools available to members to aid them with personal finance. Two Core Ambassadors contributed blog posts about the APTA Financial Solutions Center. Visit  to read their perspectives and explore the   for yourself!

As many states begin to transition to new APTA Core Ambassadors, I want to thank all of the outgoing CAs for your commitment to serving the Student Assembly. Core Ambassadors are a vital link for student leadership, and I have enjoyed working with each of you! As always, if you are a current CA working on an exciting project, please keep me informed so I can share your work with fellow Core Ambassadors.

Applications for APTA's Student Assembly Board of Directors will open in May. Being a Core Ambassador is what sparked my interest in running for a position on the Board. If you are thinking about applying, feel free to contact me or the members of the nominating committee to learn more!

Finally, congratulations to everyone graduating and taking the NPTE in the coming weeks! This is a huge accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for support during this busy season.
